Otherworld Fantasy Castle Chiayi 歐樂沃築夢城堡  – Taiwan’s Disney Castle

Taiwan’s Disney-esque castle in Chiayi, the Otherworld Fantasy Castle 歐樂沃築夢城堡 is a magical kingdom and cute chocolate factory that opened in summer 2025.

One of Taiwan’s most Instagrammable locations, Otherworld Castle is part fantasy world and part fun factory that is very reminiscent of a European village.

Admission in 2026 is NT$250 each (NT$200 concessions) and definitely a fun family attraction designed for photos (and to part you from your money).

But does Otherworld / Olevo Dream Castle live up to the hype – and is their chocolate any good?

We visited one weekend in October 2026 – here is our Otherworld Fantasy Castle 歐樂沃築夢城堡 review with lots of photos.

Alternatively, it is 30 to 35 minute taxi ride from Chiayi HSR Station.

For a shorter taxi journey, you can take the train from Chiayi TRA station to Dalin Station (10 to 15 minutes depending on the train type), and from there it is a a 15-minute taxi ride.

From Taipei

From Taipei, Otherworld Fantasy Castle is around a 2.5 to 3 hour drive.

The fastest way to get there by public transport is to take the high speed rail train to Chiayi (approx 1 hour 30 minutes) and follow the above instructions.

Alternatively take the high speed rail train to Taichung (approx 50 minutes), and walk over to the interconnected Xinwuri TRA Station, and transfer to a southbound Local Express or Tze-Chiang train to Dalin Station (approx 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes). Then take a 15 minute taxi.

We will get into this shortly but to be honest, Otherworld is fine if you are already in Chiayi / Taichung but we probably wouldn’t recommend it as a special trip from Taipei.

Otherworld 2026 / 2027 admission prices and opening times

Taiwan’s Otherworld Castle is open 7 days a week from 9am to 5.30pm – it is usually fairly quiet on weekdays.

As of October 2026, Olevo / OTHERWORLD Dream Castle 歐樂沃築夢城堡 costs:

  • Adults: NT$250
  • Concessions: NT$200 (Chiayi residents, children aged 3 to 12 and elderly people aged 65 and above)

The tickets include one free sample of chocolate, and a NT$50 voucher which can be used in gift shops and restaurants on any purchases over NT$200.

We thought the Chiayi Otherworld Castle admission price was fair, as long as you remember this is not so much a theme park (there are no rides) and more of a cute themed castle and gardens to walk around, plus eat and drink in the various cafes and restaurants.

Rides like the bumper cars and the fairground carousel cost extra (NT$50) and are usually open Friday to Sundays.

Otherworld chocolate making workshops and biscuit baking are also available for an additional NT$300. There are four scheduled time slots on the weekdays: 10am, 11am, 1.30pm and 2.30pm, whilst weekends and public holidays operate on a walk-in anytime basis.

Classes usually last between 30 to 60 minutes and you can register at any checkout counter inside the park or message their official LINE account (LINE ID @otherworld).

Is this Taiwan Disneyland?

Whilst it may look like a Taiwan Disney castle, Otherworld 歐樂沃築夢城堡 is not affiliated with Disney and there have even been local new reports that due to its close resemblance to the likes of Shanghai Disneyland, a copyright investigation launched by the Disney corporation.

And based on our experience, we can definitely see why Disney and their IP lawyers may not be too happy with what is going on here.

In fact, during our visit, the Otherworld soundtrack that blared out was pretty much all instrumental versions of Disney hits like Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah, Frozen’s Let It Go, When You Wish Upon A Star and even rather blatantly, a version of the Mickey Mouse Club theme!

And Harry Potter’s lawyers might want to get on the Otherworld copyright bandwagon as one of the cafes is selling their own version of Harry Potter Butterbeer!

How much time to spend at Taiwan Otherworld Chiayi?

We spent around 2 hours at Otherworld taking lots of photos and walking around the entire site twice.

If you plan to eat here at a sit-down restaurant and / or take part in the chocolate workshops, you should probably allow 3 to 4 hours here.

If you are getting a taxi to and from Chiayi, allow another 20 to 25 minutes each way plus there may be some taxi waiting time (we waited 10 minutes for a taxi to accept via the Uber app).

An area where you can watch chocolate being made!

Our Chiayi Otherworld Fantasy Castle experience

Is Olevo / Otherworld Castle ultimately worth the trip? Let’s deep dive into what to expect – and whilst it may be different from what you are expecting (no rides and actually quite small), it remains a very unique Taiwan attraction and a fun place to take Instagrammable family / group photos (as MANY where when we visited).

Whilst staying in Chiayi, we visited Otherworld one sunny Sunday morning in October 2026 – when we arrived, there were several big tour buses outside but apart from at lunch-time when the restaurants filled up, it never felt overly busy.

Your Otherworld Castle experience starts with a rather humdrum walk through a chocolate factory and Aztec theme area – from what we could see, it was mainly bored looking workers emptying chocolate moulds and packing them up.

This area is also home to a chocolate making workshop and biscuit decorating class which costs around NT$300 per session – we skipped this but several families seemed to be enjoying themselves in this tasty DIY activity.

Inside the Castle / Chocolate

From here, you walk into the ‘star attraction’, the Olevo Castle itself. Whilst there are a few nice photospots on the outdoor terraces, you soon start to realise the castle is more of a themed restaurant and chocolate gift shop area.

In that respect, you could say it felt more like Wonka’s Chocolate Factory (in a good way) rather than a Disney castle.

The shopping area is like a confectionery show-room with a part of the outdoor moat running through it and there is also a premium chocolate kiosk over the bridge, as well as a huge fake tree ‘growing in the center’.

Here we grabbed a small quiche (NT$60) from Mie bakery next to the gift store, which also had some seasonal Halloween baked goods (as we visited in October).

We also tried some of the free dark chocolate samples in the shop but to be honest, neither this nor our complimentary matcha chocolate sample tasted that good – it was OK but nothing special.

On the upper / second floor of the castle, it is mainly eating and seating with the Dolci Gelato kiosk (朵喜義式冰淇淋) and the ORT restaurant, plus a small outdoor seating area.

Dolci Gelato kiosk (朵喜義式冰淇淋) served fun gelato flavors like oolong, mulberry, cucumber or mango for NT$120 for 100g of gelato – they also served various sweet treats and tea. We hope they looked better in real life than they did on their hideous AI slop posters.

Across the other side of the second floor, there was the ORT Restaurant, which sold pasta and risotto dishes for NT$398 each (or NT$348 if you use the discount coupon you get with your admission ticket).

ORT’s design, pasta posters and food trolleys reminded us a LOT of IKEA Taiwan – next they will be selling fairytale themed meatballs! To be fair, ORT’s food looked alright.

We should mention that most of the Otherworld food stalls and concessions serve simple fast-food or decadent desserts like shaved ice or hot donuts.

As the castle just consists of a few food places and the chocolate shop, we felt it is a missed opportunity and more could be done to make it more fun – and the third floor is currently closed to customers.

Exploring the Park / Dreamspire Town

For us, the best bit of Otherworld is exploring the outside of the castle including the Senna Lake area, complete with hungry koi carp which you can feed (if you buy fish food for NT$20 a pop)  – the rowing boats look cool too but sadly you can’t row them.

The Dreamspire Town is genuinely good fun and basically is like a European cobbled street, but filled with cafes and food concessions like Wu Za La La shaved ice castle, a Danish Donut stall plus O Cafe near the exit.

Donutes

The most popular cafe here seemed to be Donutes which had a huge range of teas, coffees and desserts – plus the air conditioning was a nice respite from the 34c heat outside.

Donutes

We aren’t too sure what Harry Potter’s IP attorneys would make of the Butterbeer on sale though…

Donutes

In the outside area, there are also a few other postcard perfect photospots like the pier and HanHan fountain, plus seasonal theming (so for us, lots of spooky ghosts, skeletons, pumpkins and witches as we visited a couple of weeks before Halloween).

There is no doubt the Chiayi Otherworld owners and designers have done a magnificent job of copying Disney – however, sometimes the magic and ‘illusion’ just abruptly stops as you see traffic cones, closure and barren concrete car parks with no no attempt to disguise them at all  – Disney it ain’t! It is small details like this where Otherworld needs to improve.

Otherworld in Summary / Olevo Review

Whether you think Otherworld is worth visiting or not probably depends on your expectations so hopefully our Taiwanderers article will guide you as to what awaits.

To be clear, Otherworld Castle is not a theme park with rides – it is more of a food / confectionery experience with a cool looking castle and gardens bolted on. It looks amazing and offers many cool photo opportunities – and they are keen to part you with your cash by buying food and drink on site.

Otherworld Fantasy Castle Chiayi 歐樂沃築夢城堡  - Taiwan’s Disney Castle

Otherworld isn’t worth a special trip from say Taipei or Kaohsiung BUT it is a unique fairytale castle and until Taiwan decide to open a Disneyland, this is the closest you’ll get to a magical fairytale castle (or try the Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village near Sun Moon Lake).

And yes, from the Disney theme music playing to the castle design, it is taking a lot of ‘inspiration’ from the House of Mouse – but at NT$250 / NT$200 a ticket, this is a more affordable way to be a prince or princess for the day (and eat chocolate too)!

Other things to know about Otherworld Fantasy Castle Chiayi 歐樂沃築夢城堡

  • Some (but not all) signs were in Mandarin and English.
  • Free luggage storage is available in the Tourist Visitor Center – we emailed in advance to check and were allowed to leave two backpacks with them free of charge before entering the park.
  • Toilets are available inside and outside the park.
  • International debit cards can be used to buy admission tickets.
  • There are no souvenir ink stamps that we spotted – which again, feels like a missed opportunity.
  • Disney it ain’t!
