A luxury Yilan hotel perfect for families or couples, there are so many fun activities and fine foodie options at Silks Place Yilan 蘭城晶英酒店. A great place to base yourself whilst exploring and easily accessible from Taipei, this is a perfect way to unwind or have fun with your kids.

Whilst couples and travelers can enjoy the spa, pool and excellent restaurants onsite like the famous Red Lantern, families can experience themed rooms and floors, meet and greets with the hotel mascots plus drive electronic cars around indoor hotel corridors and outdoor play areas.
We had an excellent pool view room (Sky Villa) and a huge balcony complete with our own hot-tub and we could even see Yilan’s famous Turtle Island from afar – plus the room was huge equipped with lots of nice features including souvenir keepsakes to take home.

We stayed at Silks Place Yilan in October 2026 and enjoyed exploring nearby activities by day and enjoying the hotel restaurants and facilities by night, including free tickets to the Luna Cinema next door.
From facilities to food, attractions to our awesome room, here is our Silks Place Yilan review with photos.

Checking in / Luna Cinema
Our check-in process at Silks Place Yilan was stress free – and conveniently, you can also store your bags with the concierge or in the reception area (complimentary) before check-in and after check-out. Our bags were brought to our room a few minutes after we entered our hotel room.
If you do arrive early and your room isn’t ready yet, there is the huge LUNA Plaza shopping mall onsite with lots of activities like Tom’s World arcade plus many shops, dozens of chain restaurants and international restaurants, and a large Carrefour supermarket in the basement.

It is also home to the Luna Cinema, located on levels 3 and 4 which can be directly accessed via a lift from the hotel.
All hotel guests can see new movies for free at LUNA Cinema and tickets can be obtained from hotel reception after check-in.
There are many movie screenings every day from morning until late at night. Multiple movie viewings are allowed as long as the next movie starts within two hours of the previous one ending.

Our Silks Place Yilan room
Your home from home experience begins as soon as you arrive – we were greeted warmly by staff at the 6th floor reception area before being escorted to our room on the 7th floor.
Whilst several floors of the hotel are family themed with cool cartoons and roads marked out for children to drive their electric cars (more on this later), other floors are more conventional and perfect for a quiet weekend away.
We stayed in a Silks Place Yilan Sky Villa Suite, complete with a BIG balcony / outdoor terrace and hot spring bath / jacuzzi overlooking the main swimming pool.

Our own private outdoor space was a welcome place to unwind after a long day of exploring Yilan plus we would sit here in the mornings, drinking coffee and looking out over the mountains, pool and towards Turtle Island (Guishan Island) – what a view!

Our room (including terrace) was around 80 square meters and of the largest luxury hotel rooms we’ve ever encountered, complete with a super comfortable king-size bed.
Our Sky Villa Suite had all the fixtures and fittings you’d expect from a 5 star hotel (like a huge TV, pod coffee machine, dressing gowns etc) but it was all the extras that really impressed us.

The bathroom was stocked with L’Occitane fragranced toiletries which we were encouraged to take home in a specially designed Silks Place Yilan denim style bag, plus the in-room slippers / sandals were the best we’ve ever had in a room (which you are also allowed to keep).
On our second day, we also returned to our room to find another really nice gift bag with some more L’Occitane miniature toiletries.

Fresh fruit, Evian water and local Yilan cookies were also included and refreshed every day – the room and all it offered was such a nice and effortless stay in Yilan.

Family facilities at Silks Place Yilan
This hotel is VERY popular with local Taiwanese families and understandably so – there are so many cool and fun activities to get involved with, including some unique things to do we’ve never seen in any other hotel before.

Whilst we were there more for a relaxing stay, this is the perfect Taiwan family hotel and worthy of a trip from Taipei to spend several nights here – there is nothing like this hotel in Taipei and Yilan has so many amazing natural attractions and family activities to experience.

Perhaps Silks Place Yilan is best known for its themed racing floors and electric cars that kids can hire and drive around along the corridors during their stay on levels 8 and 9.
Staying on the themed Fantasy Floor, each room is provided with one kid’s electric car, children’s tent plus lots of other amenities for the little ones. Children must be 3 to 8 years old (and weigh under 25 kg, height under 130cm) to officially drive the electric miniature cars.

Children can choose from a range of electric cars and motor bikes, from Police vehicles to luxury sports cars like Porsches and Audis – there is even a traffic light system and all the corridor walls are covered in amazing artwork, featuring recreations of famous paintings and scenes.

The 8th floor is also home to the outdoor Fantasy Castle, almost like a mini kid’s city with tracks, circuits, ball pits and several other activities like a big bouncy castle.

Kids can enjoy Wow Wow Land, a Western / cowboy style saloon with an indoor cinema, soft play area plus a coffee machine and snacks for parents and families.

We were lucky enough to stay at Silks Place Yilan over a weekend so we got to see the very best of what the hotel offers for families.
On the weekends, kids can meet the hotel mascots Rainbow, Chichi, and Dodo in the lobby at certain times, plus during breakfast and have their photo taken with them.

We also saw a fun speed bingo night which is held on Saturday evenings in the hotel lobby, but best of all, on Sunday mornings, there is a totally unique ‘Run For Fun’ event where families get to play ‘hide and seek’ in the empty LUNA Plaza mall before it opens as ‘special agents’ try to locate them.

It looked so much fun and adults can take part too (we so want to do this next time we visit) – prizes can be won too like a free midweek hotel room stay. Very cool! Children under 4 years of age cannot participate, and children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.

Other Facilities
As well as the family activities, there are many other Yilan Silks Place hotel facilities to enjoy including Club LeFoon, home to an outdoor and indoor swimming pool, sun beds, sauna, hot springs, plus table tennis and gym / training facilities.
Towels and lockers are available too. Club LeFoon opening hours are 7am until 11pm, and you must wear a swimming cap in the swimming pools.

In addition to the free Luna Cinema tickets, we also really appreciated the ‘complimentary’ / included drinks and snacks at Wow Wow Seven cafe, which is open daily from 9am to 11am and 1.30pm to 9.45pm. Kind of like a lovely library with hundreds of books.

We popped here every afternoon for a drip coffee and sweet treats such as egg tarts and croissants. Wow Wow Seven cafe is exclusive for hotel guests and located on level 7.
You can try the Gran Turismo 7 (GT7) driving simulators near to the lobby area if you want some indoor adrenaline – there are 6 cars racing and it can get competitive!

Food and drink at Silks Place Yilan
As well as the smaller Wow Wow Cafe, there are two main restaurants at Silks Place Yilan – Red Lantern Chinese restaurant 紅樓中餐廳 and Mix Gourmet 蘭城百匯.
Red Lantern at Silks Place Yilan
One of the most famous and traditional restaurants in Yilan, Red Lantern 紅樓中餐廳 is located on the 6th floor of Silks Place Yilan. It is a must visit Yilan Chinese restaurant that’s famous for its Cherry Valley roast duck!
The chef brings the freshly roasted duck to your table and prepares a multi-course set menu experience with “one duck, five ways” including dishes such as crispy-skin nigiri, duck inside scallion pancakes, 3 cup duck and duck soup.

The food was really good, and the crispy skin nigiri was highly unusual, but we enjoyed it! We washed it down with a chilled vinegar drink which was surprisingly refreshing (it aids digestion), Taiwanese tea and some ice cold beer!
This restaurant is extremely popular so we highly recommend you book Red Lantern in advance.
Buffet breakfast at Mix Gourmet
Also located on the 6th floor is the Mix Gourmet restaurant – open for the breakfast buffet, and also as an international and fusion dinner buffet in the evenings (we didn’t eat at the evening buffet, but we enjoyed the breakfast buffet).
The buffet breakfast here was BIG and tasty, with something to suit all tastes and the perfect way to start our day. Plus at the weekends, children can meet the Silks Place Yilan mascots and have their photo taken with them. And yes, we did this too!

Breakfast consists of several hot stations serving everything from omelettes and congee to noodles and crispy garlic potatoes, plus cold cuts, salad and cereal. We ate so well every morning and had very happy bellies!

The drink selection was also incredible, with a juice bar (pick your favourite fruit and veg to be blended), lots of milk and yoghurts plus capsule coffee machines operated by a very busy and friendly member of staff.

Silks Place Yilan review and summary
A luxury hotel in Yilan ideal for families, Silks Place Yilan is a truly top Taiwan stay, from the exquisite dining and awesome onsite activities to the relaxing pool and hot spring – it can also be a relaxing and luxurious stay for couples and groups of friends.
Our bed and room were large and very comfy and we loved the outdoor terrace and private hot spring bath, with amazing views looking out over Yilan and towards Turtle Island. The in-room gifts and cool keepsakes were also appreciated.

Handily located next to LUNA Cinema and the neighboring mall, the food and dining options at Yilan Silks Place also make for an excellent epicurean experience.
We recommend booking a weekend stay if you want to enjoy events like the mascot breakfast, speed bingo and Run For Fun.
