For a truly Taiwanese experience, make sure your next Taipei trip involves a hotel with your own hot spring bath. One of the best known hot spring resort areas in Taiwan is located in Beitou in north Taipei.
Instead of just visiting, be sure to spend a night or two in Beitou – treat yourself to a stay at newly built Wellspring by Silks Beitou, opened in late 2025 and one of Beitou’s most luxurious hot spring hotels.

Or after a day of exploring Beitou, spend a few hours in one of their opulent day-use private hot spring rooms or dine in style and enjoy their signature sukiyaki at the hotel’s Mihan Beitou restaurant or at Bando Club.
We stayed at Wellspring by Silks Beitou in October 2026 and enjoyed exploring Beitou by day and relaxing in our own private in-room hot spring bath by night.
From facilities to food, hot-springs to nearby hotspots, here is our review of Wellspring by Silks Beitou – we were hosted by the hotel.

As of late 2026, we’ve been fortunate enough to stay in several Silks Hotel Group properties including the Silks Place Taroko (read our review here), Silks Place Yilan (read our review here)and Regent Taipei (read our review here).
The Silks Place / Wellspring by Silks properties are 5 star hotels in distinctive Taiwan locations, in comfortable stylish surroundings with many ways to relax, with an emphasis on hot springs and spas at the two Wellspring by Silks hotels.

The Wellspring by Silks Beitou local neighborhood
Beitou is Taipei’s hot spring capital! Hop on the MRT from Taipei and in less than 20 minutes, you’ll arrive in Beitou, known for its lush greenery, thermal springs and public baths.

Hot spring bathing in this area dates back to the Japanese era, which is why the district is so full of character and incredible architecture – even the modern Beitou Library is one of the most idyllic spots in Taipei.
The Beitou Plum Garden has also reopened this summer (2026) after two years of extensive renovations. All this is just a short walk from Wellspring by Silks Beitou, as are most Beitou attractions.

Beitou things to do and highlights include Beitou Thermal Valley (closed Mondays), the Hot Spring Museum plus Beitou Market. And as you’d expect from a natural hot spring area, much of the town smells of sulfur (but you’ll soon get used to it).
In Beitou, we also did several short hikes on nearby Phoenix Mountain, like Junjianyan Trail – the views at the top and of Beitou below are stunning.

Checking in
Our check-in process at Wellspring by Silks Beitou was stress free and your luxury Taipei experience begins as soon as you arrive – after arriving at the hotel by taxi, we were warmly greeted by staff who took care of our luggage.

We then checked in at The Gallery, a lovely lounge area available to all guests with complimentary snacks, drinks and a nightly ‘happy hour’.
As soon as we opened the door to our room, we knew we were in for an amazing and relaxing stay as our accommodation had a lovely lounge area looking towards the Beitou hills, as was our private hot spring tub in the bathroom.

Our Wellspring by Silks Beitou Room
During our October 2026 stay, we stayed in a Deluxe Family Room with Mountain View (46m² / 495ft ²); which had two huge comfy beds and its own mini private hot spring bath in the room using local sulphur spring water!

We used this at night and in the morning and it was equipped with a traditional wooden bath ladle – a handy shower is located just next to the bath.

We also absolutely adored the view of the rolling green Beitou hills – we would sit in the lounge area drinking coffee (the room includes a pod coffee machine), wearing our complimentary beauty masks and looking out over Beitou – magical. And the Wi-Fi speed might be the quickest we’ve ever had at any Taipei hotel we’ve stayed in.

The room had lots of storage, his and hers sinks plus a small table and chairs which we found handy for working.
The toilet was in a separate cubicle away from the shower and hot spring tub. We also watched movies on the big screen TV after coming back from the swimming pool – there is lots to do here and you can make your time here as busy or as relaxing as you want.

Other hotel room types and private day-use spa rooms at Wellspring by Silks
The hotel rooms at Wellspring by Silks either have a mountain view (like ours) or a city view.
The standard and family guest rooms located on the city view side have balconies, whilst the higher-tier rooms and suites have views of the foot of the Yangmingshan area and the local Beitou mountains.
The standard and family guest rooms on this side of the hotel do not have balconies, but suites like the Balcony Japanese Suite have private and secluded outdoor garden terraces featuring open-air hot spring pools.

The hotel also have day-use private hot spring spa rooms that you can book by the hour on their website.
The rooms have sofas, flat-screen smart TVs, and a private shower. Some of the suites also have outdoor areas and are beautifully designed inside – this is definitely one of the most premium private hot spring experiences we’ve encountered in Taipei / Beitou.
The rooms are available to use from from 7.30am until 11pm (with the final session starting at 9pm). For safety reasons, all day-use rooms require a minimum of 2 guests (no solo bathers). You can book using this online form or call the hotel directly.

Hot springs, swimming pool and other facilities
One of the main reasons to stay at Wellspring by Silks is the access to natural hot-springs either in your own private room or via their public hot springs.
The hotel has its main bathhouse style public hot spring – note this is segregated by sex and no swimsuits are allowed so we obviously don’t have any photos to share of this!
We also soaked ourselves in several small public hot springs set around the hotel outdoor swimming pool that had several sun loungers.

Nearby, there was a Kid’s Zone area ideal for family trips plus we used the laundry machine and dryer to clean our clothes (in case you are looking for a nice Beitou hotel with laundry facilities).

Wellspring by Silks Beitou also has a well equipped gym and yoga studio, plus the award-winning onsite Wellspring spa – we used none of these as we were too busy soaking, eating, drinking and working!

The Gallery at Wellspring by Silks Beitou
One of the nicest features of the hotel was that all guests had access to The Gallery, a lounge just off the hotel where you can work, meet or enjoy complimentary drinks and snacks – open from 8am to 10pm.
From 1pm until 10pm you can help yourself to coffee, tea, and small snacks/cookies.

There is also a daily happy hour between 5.30pm and 7.30pm which includes alcohol drinks like wine, beer and cocktails plus canapes and snacks like crostini, cured meats, cheese, olives, brownies, nuts and sesame spiced edamame.
We enjoy some fruity Taiwan Beers followed by some cocktails (Martini and Cosmopolitans) before making our way to dinner.

Fine Dining
There are two onsite restaurants at Wellspring by Silks Beitou, the Japanese style Mihan Beitou (where we had a decadent dinner and big buffet breakfast) and Bando Club, serving top Taiwanese cuisine brought to you by a five-star chef team from Regent Taipei.

We were lucky enough to enjoy Mihan Beitou’s signature sukiyaki, a joyful Japanese hot pot dish where we dined on high quality thinly sliced meats like A5 wagyu beef simmered at the table in a sweet-and-savory broth.
You can also help yourself to salads, Japanese-style cold appetisers, fresh fruits and drinks from the buffet. It was so good and we even found a little spare room to squeeze in some Häagen-Dazs ice cream and fruit at the end.

Mihan Beitou was also where we had a brilliant breakfast buffet, with a variety of light Japanese dishes, plus hot stations, salads, fruits and drinks to choose from. It was a great way to start the day with many healthy and fresh choices too.
