Visiting Taiwan in June 2026? From the Taiwan dragon boat festival to the Taipei Water Festival, there is lots to do and epic events to enjoy in June 2026 in Taiwan; plus the East Coast Land Arts Festival begins near Taitung.

Taiwan’s biggest firework festival – the 2026 Penghu International Fireworks Festival continues in June with over 30 coastal firework displays over several weeks. Better still, the Penghu fireworks festival this year is Dragonball Z themed!

Featuring Taiwan baseball, the 2026 Taipei Children’s Arts Festival, Beitou Festival and Taipei concerts (including ITZY, Taipei’s Songkran Festival and King Gnu), here is our pick of the best Taipei and Taiwan events in June 2026.

2026 Taipei International Dragon Boat Championships

19 to 21 June 2026

So an intrinsic part of Taiwan’s history and culture, there is even a Taiwan public holiday over two days to mark the Dragon Boat Festival.

Just over 230 rowing teams from all over Taiwan are set to take place in the 2026 Taipei International Dragon Boat Championships along the Keelung River.

This major event takes place concurrently with the traditional Taiwanese Dragon Boat Festival, so it is a fun thing to do in Taipei with kids with lots of food and drink stalls available too.

One of Taiwan’s biggest firework festivals, the Penghu islands illuminate across June with the Penghu International Firework Festival. There are 33 individual firework displays (the highest amount yet) and drone shows set to take place across 4 months.

This year in 2026, Penghu’s fireworks are Dragon Ball Z themed. We so want to see the Dragon Ball themed drone shows too.

The fireworks festival in Penghu ignites several times a week and are often best watched from Guanyin Pavilion (Guanyinting), an old temple looking out across the water.

You can visit Penghu by ferry from Chiayi, or you can take a flight there.

The Taiwan East Coast Land Arts Festival celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2025 and returns again in 2026 with a longer programme!

In 2026, the theme is “Body as Ocean,” promoting the deep connection between humans and the ocean. The headline “Moonlight and Sea Concert” takes place on 21 / 22 June 2026, 30 / 31 July, 29 /30 August and with final performances on 28 / 29 September 2026.

Taiwan artists and international performers so far announced for 2025 include Heianlong X Tokyo Chuo Line, Usay Kawl, S Karaoke, Cemelasai, The Umaq and Shallow Levee.

The 2026 Taiwan East Coast Land Arts Festival takes place north of Taitung in and around the East Coast Scenic Area with the incredible scenery and natural wonders as an amazing backdrop.

An annual festival in Taipei, 2026 sees the return of Beitou’s biggest celebration where live performances, pop-up photo spots and lots of local festivities take place.

2026 will feature a Nakasi banquet, outdoor movie nights, pop music concerts, a Nakasi singing competition and much more.

This will be a fantastic one to combine with a day trip to Beitou and a walk through Taipei’s ‘mist’ see attraction, Beitou Thermal Valley.

Located in Taipei’s Gongguan district, the Taipei Water Park opens for the summer on 27 June 2026.

Every day, families can splash about on slides, fountains and floats plus bring along your super soakers and water pistols – goggles might come in very handy too with all that squirting water!

Be sure to combine this with a trip to the Gongguan Night Market afterwards, one of the best night markets in Taipei, frequented by local students who know how to sniff out amazing food at inexpensive prices.

Taiwan Baseball Season 2026 / Chinese Professional Baseball League season

Across June 2026

A fun night out, make a home-run to a Taiwan baseball game – the 2026 Taiwan baseball season started in late March 2026, across two seasons (with the second season starting in July 2026).

There are 47 Taiwan baseball games in June 2026 – there are CPBL baseball games most days in June except Mondays and a gap between 23 and 26 June 2026.

Taiwan baseball is suitable for all ages and it is easy to buy baseball tickets online or in person at the baseball stadiums or using the Taiwan convenience store ticket machines in 7-Eleven and FamilyMart.

Many games are played at the new Taipei Dome in Xinyi. Taiwan baseball tickets start from as low as NT$400 for outfield tickets (prices correct as of March 2026).

Enjoy the evening action on and off the field as the stands often erupt into cheers with entertainment and dancing also quite common.

Celebrating its 25th anniversary last year, the Taipei Children’s Arts Festival returns across June to early August 2026 with this year’s theme being ‘Kids Mode On’. It is a mix of free events, paid performances and children’s workshops taking place at various arts spaces across the city.

Mikan, Kaohsiung’s Station Cat Monthly Appearance

June 2026 date TBC – usually 10am to 3pm

Once a month, you can meet Mikan 蜜柑, Kaohsiung’s cutest station cat.

Mikan has a huge social following, her own range of cute kitty merchandise and makes regular appearances at a Kaohsiung Metro KRTC station (KRTC stands for Kaohsiung Rapid Transit Corporation).

A stray cat adopted by Kaohsiung station staff, Mikan the cat’s fanbase is growing all the time and hundreds flock to Ciaotou Sugar Refiner Kaohsiung Metro station every time she appears (often in costume). The station is even cat-themed, plus a bakery next door sells cat shaped steamed buns.

And if you can’t make her May appearance in Kaohsiung, there is a Mikan gift shop open daily at Zuoying MRT station.
