Keelung Ghost Festival/ Keelung Zhongyuan Festival
22 August 2025 to 22 September 2025
The biggest ghost festival in Taiwan, Keelung’s annual summer Ghost Festival has been around for over 150 years and takes place at Keelung and at the eponymous hillside shrine (雞籠中元文化館) near Keelung Tower (although last time we visited, it was seemingly closed for renovations so it may just take place outside).
This post may contain affiliate links to tours and hotels. These help us earn a small commission at no additional charge to you.

Now locals and travellers return to the temple to take part in ceremonies and make offerings to the deities. Parades and colourful ceremonies also take place in Keelung city itself too.
Afterwards, be sure to check out the famous Keelung Night Market, the biggest in northern Taiwan.

Taiwan’s second biggest jazz festival (after the Taichung Jazz Festival held every November), the Taipei Jazz Festival returns for 2025 with 18 days of music across the city (no performances on Mondays and Tuesdays – because musicians need to rest too)!
For the first part of the proceedings, each day will see joyful jazz pop ups across Taipei and there will be ‘Jazz Now Live’ sessions at locations across the city this year including Treasure Hill Artist Village, Taipei Zoo, Songshan Cultural Park and Guandu Wharf.
The Taipei Jazz Festival culminates in three days of concerts at Taipei Music Center Plaza.

Taipei Night Market Festival
August 2025 to 1 November 2025
We love Taipei’s night markets and this foodie festival is just another excuse to go. Across various night markets in September 2025, there will be extra activities and stalls celebrating the best of Taiwan cuisine and the heritage of traditional Taiwanese street food.

A vote will also be held to find out local residents’ favourite foods and stalls – given how good all the food is, it surely will be a difficult decision!

2025 Taiwan Baseball Season
Until October 2025
Taiwan baseball is a ‘big-hitter’ and one of the country’s most popular sports.
A fun night out, make a home-run to a Taiwan baseball game – the 2025 Taiwan baseball season is into its second half by September 2025 and runs until October 2025.

Taiwan baseball is suitable for all ages and it is easy to buy baseball tickets online or in person at the baseball stadiums or using the Taiwan convenience store ticket machines in 7-Eleven and FamilyMart – many games are played at the new Taipei Dome in Xinyi.
The Taiwan baseball / CPBL games can usually be seen 6 days a week during baseball season – it is only Monday when there are no baseball games played (and the odd other day).

Enjoy the evening action on and off the field as the stands often erupt into cheers with entertainment and dancing also quite common.
The Taiwan baseball September 2025 schedule has games every day apart from 1,8, 15, 17, 22 and 24 September 2025. All other days see at least 1-3 baseball games played in Taiwan as part of the Chinese Professional Baseball League.
