Alishan 7-Eleven Convenience Store Guide 2025

2025 update – the 7-Eleven store at Alishan Transport Center is now permanently closed.

Given the limited number of restaurants and food courts in the Alishan National Forest Recreational Area, you might be thankful to learn there are actually two 7-Eleven stores in Alishan – one in the park itself, plus another 7-Eleven at Alishan Transport Center / Bus Station.

We’ve always been big fans of 7-Eleven Taiwan, from their themed 7-Eleven stores to instore 7-Eleven bars, sadly neither of which you’ll find in Alishan.

Whilst we aren’t saying you should be going to 7-Eleven in Alishan for every meal or snack (shop local), it might be a regular trip as the restaurants in Alishan Forest Park Recreation Area near the hotels are a little on the expensive side (thank heaven for the food court).

Thankfully, the Alishan 7-Eleven inside the park is open 24 hours a day so it means you can get a hot coffee or snack on the way to see the Alishan sunrise (you wouldn’t believe how busy it is at 5:30am!)

From hot meals to snacks and souvenirs, here is our guide to the 7-Eleven Alishan stores + photos.

Alishan 7-Eleven Locations

2025 update – the 7-Eleven store at Alishan Transport Center is now permanently closed.

There are two 7-Elevens in Alishan – one in the park itself and one just outside at Alishan Bus Station.

**CLOSED** 7-ELEVEN 阿里山門市 (at Alishan Transport Center / Bus Station) is the larger of the two stores and is open from 5am to 11pm – see on Google Maps here >

Both of the 7-Elevens in Alishan sell similar things (which we’ll go into below) but only the 7-Eleven at Alishan bus station sells the Alishan / Chiayi / Fenqihu / Sun Moon Lake bus tickets.

Alishan 7-Elevens – Why Visit?

Don’t worry – you can pack light when going to Alishan as the convenience stores stock most goods from cereal to cold beer, rain macs to ready meals.

That said, we found the chilled / fresh selection at the end of the day in both stores was generally quite limited, likely because they’d been ‘raided’ by hungry day-trippers and tourists.

Sadly most Alishan hotels don’t have fridges in the rooms so buying cold ‘fresh’ items from 7-Eleven is a bonus, especially in the summer months.

On our latest trip to Alishan in early 2025, we stayed at Chinshan Hotel in the park itself so made most of our purchases at the 7-ELEVEN 神木門市 branch, by the main park and restaurant area.

We probably went to the 7-Eleven two or three times a day either to get water and cold snacks or sometimes for a hot ready meal in the evening.

There are restaurants and a small food court in the park but choice is quite limited plus they are quiet expensive compared to city restaurants and Taiwan night markets.

If you are a budget traveller to Alishan, 7-Eleven might become your best friend. Please note that neither stores have dedicated eating or cafe seating areas – so it is all takeaway.

We found Alishan similar to Sun Moon Lake. Whilst staying in Ita Thao, we relied on FamilyMart and 7-Eleven a lot as most restaurants closed early plus the food choice was limited and not cheap.

What can you buy at 7-Eleven Alishan

Hot Drinks

If you are visiting Alishan during the winter, the hot drinks at 7-Eleven are heaven! Prices are the same as the big cities and small hot drinks start from just NT$45.

We got a coffee on our way to the Alishan sunrise train at 5am and the coffee queue was big!

Chilled Meals and Sandwiches

Possibly the main reason to visit Alishan 7-Elevens, both stores had a couple of chillers each of chilled microwave meals, noodle dishes plus cold dishes like sandwiches and wraps.

Again, a reminder that both stores’ chiller and fruit sections seemed rather depleted by the end of the day – so make sure you don’t go hungry.

Staff will microwave the meals for you and it is a cheap way to eat in Alishan park at night if you don’t fancy the restaurants (plus most Alisan restaurants close around 8pm).

Cold Drinks and Water

As you’d expect, there are copious choices of cold drinks, soy milk and other chilled cans to quench your thirst.

Hot section

As well as chiller food, there are a couple of hot food items including sweet / taro potatoes and hot-dogs. Not exactly haute cuisine but it’ll do for a couple of days if you are desperate!

There is also a tea egg and hot oden style serving area.

EasyCards

Both stores have a limited selection of Taiwan EasyCards – but we didn’t spot any of the cool 3D EasyCards we rave about.

Crisp and snacks

No, there is nothing remarkable about a 7-Eleven that sells potato chips / crisps but may we draw your attention to the bulging bags.

Given the Alisan 7-Elevens are the highest in Taiwan (based on elevation), the air pressure expands the potato chip bags so much that they look set to pop (which they do when you eagerly open them) – it is kind of like what happens when you take sealed snacks on a aeroplane.

Instant noodles

There are oodles of instant noodles and ramen cups to choose from at both Alishan 7-Elevens – hot water urns are available too.

Wet and warm weather gear

Everyone likely knows the weather in Taiwan can change easily and quickly but this is especially in Alishan where misty mornings and sudden flashes of sunlight are the norm.

Thankfully, if you haven’t packed right for the conditions, 7-Eleven Alishan stores also have stock limited wet weather gear like umbrellas and rain macs, plus socks and thermals for cold weather.

Beer and spirits

Both stores stock a big range of Taiwan beer in chiller cabinets plus spirits like whiskey, soju and vodka – another way to keep warm on those cold nights in Alishan eh!

Toiletries

Given Taiwan hotels no longer provide disposable toiletries (a new 2025 law) or In case you forgot to pack anything, there is a limited toiletry and healthcare product selection at both convenience stores.

7-Eleven Blind Box Vending Machine

We only spotted this in the 7-Eleven at Alishan Bus Station 7-ELEVEN 阿里山門市. You’d usually associate Taiwan blind boxes with collectible toy stores like Pop Mart but this Alishan 7-Eleven has a beverage blind box!

Pop in your money and choose the international flag of your choice – a mystery drink from that country will then be dispensed. Cheers!

7-Eleven ATM / iBon Ticketing

The 7-Eleven at Alishan Bus Station had an iBon machine machine and ATM but we think the branch in the park just had an iBon machine.
