Things to consider when booking Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport Hotels

Why stay at the airport when the Taipei Airport MRT is so efficient and economical?

Well, the first trains from Taipei Main Station don’t start running until around 6am (which would arrive around 6.45am) – so if you have an international flight departing Taoyuan Airport before 9am, you’re best to either stay at an Taoyuan airport hotel or get a taxi or airport transfer from Taipei city.

Just remember to factor in Taipei rush hour traffic too which will make the journey longer – sometimes it is just easier to stay at a hotel near or in Taiwan Taoyuan Airport.

Also, if you’re arriving late and just want to unwind, airport hotels are a good bet, so that you are ready to hit Taipei fresh and early in the morning – and to note the last airport MRT train to Taipei Main Station usually leaves around 11.30pm at night.

Taoyuan Taipei Airport free half day tour

If you’ve arrived here because you have a very short stopover / layover at Taiwan Taoyuan Airport, you might also be interested to know they offer free half day Taipei sightseeing tours.

The free half day tour from Taoyuan International Taipei Airport departs twice daily and lasts around four hours – note there is also an occasional evening tour but it only accepts group reservations.

Recommended Taiwan Taoyuan Airport Hotels

There are a range of Taiwan Taipei airport accommodation to choose from including a capsule hotel inside Taoyuan Airport, modern new hotels plus cheaper backpacker hostels.

CHO Capsule Hotel

The only ‘hotel’ located in Taoyuan Airport itself, this is the best Taipei Airport hotel if you want to make a quick exit in the morning to your flight and not have to worry about taxis, buses or a long walk.

Located on floor 5 of Taoyuan Airport Terminal 2, it is just a short 2 minute walk from the departure gates (the skytrain to terminal 1 is just downstairs).

It also has a 24 hour convenience store near to the entrance which is handy if you only have a few hours here and need a quick snack when the airport food courts and restaurants are closed.

Fittingly for Taiwan, CHO Capsule hotel is actually tea-themed with gorgeous interiors and corridors reminiscent of a traditional Taiwanese tea house. Many remark on how nice the hotel looks (although obviously the capsules are quite small if you aren’t used to them).

Bunk beds are available in female or male dorms or there are double beds in mixed ‘dorms’ (which are private) – bathroom facilities are shared.

Hyatt Regency Taoyuan International Airport

Taoyuan Airport’s ‘newest’ hotel which opened in January 2025 (it used to be the Novotel), Hyatt Regency Taoyuan International Airport has over 470 rooms, 24 hour room service and a beautiful reception area.

It is just a 5 minute drive away from the airport itself and the hotel provides a complimentary shuttle service to terminals 1 and 2, which leaves every half an hour and operates daily between 4am to 11.30pm. It is also within walking distance of the airport MRT.

Each room at the Hyatt Regency Taoyuan International Airport has a marble finish bathroom, HDTVs with Chromecast plus some rooms have a view of the airport.

City Suites Taoyuan Gateway

A short 5 minute walk from Taoyuan Airport MRT Dayuan Station, City Suites Taoyuan Gateway is also a 5-minute drive / NT$200 taxi from Taoyuan International Airport – it is also cheaper than the Hyatt.

There are various room types available from family rooms to doubles and twins plus they offer day use double rooms for 3 hours.

Many guests rate City Suites Taoyuan Gateway for its location but some feel the rooms are a little dated – it is ideal for an overnight stay just before your flight.

The buffet breakfast and dinner is well reviewed and has a wide variety of food – many travellers also stay at City Suites Taoyuan Gateway due to its close proximity to Gloria Outlets.

Monarch Skyline Hotel

Complete with an airport shuttle, Monarch Skyline Hotel is a 15 minute drive to the airport or Gloria Outlet, or five minutes walk to Tai Mao Shopping Mall, the largest shopping mall in Taoyuan.

A modern hotel with two restaurants serving local and Japanese food plus many guests mention how much they enjoyed the buffet breakfast – twin, double and executive deluxe rooms are available.

COZZI Blu Taoyuan

A little further away from Taoyuan Airport and close to the famous Taoyuan XPark, COZZI Blu Taoyuan is a 15 minute drive to the airport and one of the highest rated hotels near Taoyuan airport, based on online reviews.

It is a new hotel and close to all of Taoyuan’s main malls and restaurants – it is also a great location if you are heading back to Taipei at the end of your trip on the High Speed Rail.

Jump off at the HSR Station, stay at COZZI Blu Taoyuan and explore Taoyuan in the evening before getting a quick taxi to the airport the next day.

Note this isn’t the cheapest hotel but it is one of the nicest and newest – family rooms are also available and the higher floors have a great view of the skyline.

Taoyuan Airport Hostels – the cheapest Taoyuan Airport Accommodation

If you are travelling in Taiwan on a budget, there are a couple of Taoyuan Airport hostels within close proximity to Terminal 1 and 2 – Backpackers Hostel Taoyuan Airport and Beginning Hostel (which is currently closed at the time of writing in March 2025).
