We ate in the basement food court at Miramar shopping mall on a weekday lunch time and it was packed with hungry workers. We had Marugame Seimen noodles (Japanese) plus the Movenpick Cafe seemed very popular, but there were Taiwanese food stalls too.

Taipei’s trendiest district and hipster hangout, Zhongshan is the Taipei neighborhood for boutique shops and second-hand stores.

Every side-street in Zhongshan is packed with a treasure trove of thrift stores and fine fashion shops. At the weekends, thousands of trendsetters and ‘cool kids’ visit the flea markets or pop-up festivals along Zhongshan Linear Park.

For the best boutique shopping in Taipei, head to Zhongshan 6 Lane 20, section 2. Literally every other shop is a clothing store or skincare shop, with fantastic fashion shops like Tonya, Motherhouse and Hama Boutique.

There are also several famous fashion chains like Air Space Lady, Air Space Plus and Lab 22.

This Zhongshan Shopping street often has large lines of young people outside its coffee shops and artisan bakeries plus you’ll see lots of interesting things like an awesome astronaut silver statue outside ‘Sceny Bon’ perfume shop.

If you are after bargains and thrift stores in Taipei, Zhongshan is also for you – the highest concentration of second-shops in Zhongshan was the alleys immediately next to the east entrance of Jiancheng Park.

Some of the best vintage shops in this neighborhood include Damn It! Vintage (hard to spot because of all the camouflage gear and houseplants out the front), Travis Vintage and Mana.

Check out our Taiwanderers Zhongshan neighborhood guide here >

Whilst not on the scale of Huashan Creative 1914 Park, this former tobacco factory has been transformed into a huge complex full of cool craft shops, gorgeous gift shops plus regular pop-up exhibitions.

Songshan Cultural Park has lots of exquisite craft and jewelry stores so if you are looking for a Taipei shopping experience with lots of unique gifts, this is it!

Songshan Cultural park also houses the Taiwan Design Museum (complete with a gorgeous gift shop) and also has a small lake and seating area which is pleasant in the summer months.

Taipei 101 isn’t just about the tower and office buildings above – Taipei 101 Mall is a sleek and shiny shopping center with luxury brands upstairs and a bustling basement food court downstairs.

Brands located in Taipei 101 Shopping Center include Louis Vuitton, Dior, Chanel and Armani and on every occasion we’ve been over the years, there has always been a rather posh pop-up from a luxury brand in the center of the mall, like an Autumnal forest of floral village.

This is also a good Taipei shopping mall for sporting brands with branches of Adidas, Kangol, Nike, Lululemon plus jewelry shops like Longines, Tag Hauer, Swatch and Tissot.

Opening hours: 11am to 9.30pm Sunday to Thursday, 11am to 10pm Friday to Saturday.

17. Q Square Mall

Located next to Taipei Main Station, Q Square Mall is very easy to get lost in as every floor looks a little similar – there are 8 floors of food courts, young fashions and homewares.

Q Square Mall Taipei

We visited Q Square Mall as a quick place to get food after getting off the train at Taipei Main Station – we wanted to get some veggies inside us so went to a veggie buffet on the B3 ‘Teens Avenue’ floor.

Busy with commuters and workers (especially in the early evening as offices close), brands at Q Square Mall include Zara, Mango, NIKE, Skechers and Converse.

Each floor has a different theme from Feast Avenue on floor 4 to Youth Avenue on B1 plus Coldplay Avenue (!) on B2 (we’re presuming it is because Coldplay toured Taiwan in 2023 but who knows?)

Opening hours: Sunday to Thursday 11am to 9.30pm; Friday to Saturday 11am to 10pm (although many shops close around 8pm).

Address: No. 1號, Section 1, Chengde Rd, Datong District, Taipei City 103 (map)

18. Far Eastern SOGO Taipei Fuxing Store

There actually used to be more than one Far Eastern mall in Taipei but the one in Ximending is due for demolition.

Far Eastern SOGO Taipei Fuxing Mall was the first in Taipei to open with an MRT station already built into it so it is fairly easy to get here on the blue and brown Metro lines.

Far Eastern SOGO Taipei Fuxing Store

We also like it as it has Din Tai Fung, which can sometimes be easier to get a seat than the downtown ones (but not always).

Far Eastern SOGO Taipei Fuxing Store has 10 storeys of shops with a tax refund counter on level 9.

This is quite a high-end mall with brands such as Louis Vuitton and Chanel for fine fashion – but there are also food courts and fast-food chains like MOS Burger for budget bites.

19. Taipei Station K Underground Mall

Underneath Taipei Main Station is this utopia of pop up shops, clothes and accessory stores, cheap chain restaurants and convenience stores such as 7-Eleven and FamilyMart.

20. Guang Hua Digital Plaza

Another technology center and smaller mall can be found close to the Syntrend – Guang Hua Digital Plaza.

Whilst not as flashy or slick as Syntrend, this mall is home to lots of small independent retailers and is a great place to get your gadgets fixed or pick up spare parts.

We hear from a lot of travellers in our Taiwanderers facebook group about heading here to get their laptops or gadgets fixed on the cheap.

21. Rongjin Gorgeous Time

A historic site that is now a hipster heaven, Rongjin Gorgeous Time is not only a cute name but a sublime mini street-mall in Taipei that is full of cool cafes, decadent dessert shops plus a handful of gorgeous gift stores.

Opened in late 2022 and located on the site of a former prison built in the early 1900s during the Japanese colonial period, Taipei’s Rongjin Gorgeous Time Japanese style buildings has quickly become one of Taipei’s best hipster hangouts and characterful creative districts.

Popular with shoppers and coffee connoisseurs, the architecture and Japanese influences here make this a popular Instagram posing place.

You can even rent Japanese kimonos at Rongjin Gorgeous Time using the traditional setting and wooden exteriors as a beautiful backdrop reminiscent of Kyoto.

From craft beer bars to beetle ice-cream cones, wonderful waffles to the best bakeries, here is our guide to Rongjin Gorgeous Time >

Opening Hours: Rongjin Gorgeous Time is open from 11am to 8pm every day of the week.

22. Souvenir shopping in Dihua Street and Yongkang Street

Whilst Yongkang Street is more known for its food restaurants, and Dihua Street is known for its Chinese Herbal Medicine Shops and Lunar New Year Celebrations, both are historic neighborhoods that have a huge array of souvenir shops, from tourist tat to more artisan stalls like crafts and ceramics.

22. Bonus Taipei Shopping Mall – Carrefour 家樂福

A quick mention about Carrefour stores in Taiwan – a trip to Carrefour in Taiwan might not be high on everyone’s shopping list, but it is a good place for cheap food and drink plus tasty Taiwan souvenirs like pineapple cake and Taiwanese tea.

We first discovered about people’s love for Taiwan Carrefour from various posts in our Taiwan Travel Tips (TTT) Facebook group – from where to get suitcases to 24 hour shopping requests, Carrefour Taiwan was a common answer.

There are over 300 Carrefours in Taiwan, of which half are open 24 hours a day – and their hypermarket branches are huge!
