Most Unique Taiwan Hotels We’ve Stayed in – 2026 Guide

As regular travellers to Taiwan, we stay in a lot of good hotels and post about our experience and accommodation reviews in our Taiwan Travel Tips (TTT) Facebook group.

From relaxing retreats to themed hotels, stunning views or stargazing from National Park accommodation, these are the most unique Taiwan hotels and memorable stays based on our own personal experiences.

Highlights include hot spring hotels, secluded stays and our own personal concierge at Taipei’s newest 5* hotel – here is our 2026 guide to the most unique Taiwan hotels we’ve stayed in with lots of our own photos.

A 5* hotel in an incredible natural setting, escape the city and get back to nature (but with all the comforts) at Silks Place Taroko.

From the rooftop pool to the fantastic facilities, wonderful food to the outdoor cinema, there is much to enjoy here – and some of the rooms even have terraces directly overlooking Taroko Gorge.

Taroko Silks Highlights

• The location itself: your magical adventure starts as you enter the national park via mountains, valleys and rivers. This is one of the most memorable locations of any Taiwan hotel ever.
• Delicious Dining: There are several restaurants on site (including but-gusting buffets) plus a free ‘social hour’ every evening where you can enjoy wine, whisky, snacks and good conversation.
• Go for a drink on the rooftop at night, soak in an outdoor hot tub or enjoy the rooftop cinema – all this whilst enclosed by one of Taiwan’s most iconic locations.
• The hotel offers a wide variety of workshops and activities daily, starting with yoga every morning at 8am (and moonlight yoga at 9pm), children’s activities, aroma wellness and a variety of craft classes and wilderness walks and workshops.

Silks Place Taroko is a truly magical Taiwan hotel for nature lovers – we saw Taroko’s famous monkeys, nearby Xiangde Temple and Tianfeng pagoda plus walked into the nearby village.

As the roads / park close around 6pm in the evening, it is all yours at night with very few other tourists – bliss!

And as there is no light pollution, it is one of the clearest places to see stars in Taiwan.

To get here from Hualien Station, you can drive yourself or there are shuttle buses for hotel guests (there is a small cost to book the shuttle bus unless it is included in your package deal).

One of our most rewarding stays and a world away from the busy and bustling Jiufen Old Street, Adagio Jinguashi is all about slow travel and local experiences.

From the evening tasting menu that harks back to the local history of Jinguashi to the welcoming staff and attention to detail, this is one memorable stay.

Located amongst the hills of an old gold mining town, this is a relaxing retreat from the moment you arrive – surrounded by greenery and mountain / sea views, there are no distractions or annoyances here.

Adagio Jinguashi Highlights

• Curated dinners – on our first night, we were treated to a sumptuous 8 course slow dining experience, created using seasonal produce and giving you a taste of the mountains and sea. Each course was explained and it was an epic epicurean evening – breakfast was also equally Instagrammable
• By day, you can walk to nearby temples, old streets or the coast and by night, you can sit in silence looking up at the stars in the evening sky.
• The panoramic views – we stayed in a top floor Deluxe room at Adagio Jinguashi and the lookout from our private outdoor terrace was absolutely stunning.

We found our Deluxe Adagio Jinguashi room very relaxing, especially on the second day when it rained a lot – we chilled drinking coffee watching the world go by outside (kinda magical really). We also slept really well as there are no sounds outside other than the soft flow of water in the distance.

An excellent place to unwind in a beautiful location, Adagio Jinguashi is a memorable stay, from the slow pace of travel and close proximity to nature – and boy, our private balcony terrace view will be hard to beat!

GLORIA MANOR

Many people not only rate GLORIA MANOR as the Kenting hotel but also as one of the BEST hotels in all of Taiwan – and based on our recent stay, we have to agree. Located in the heart of Kenting National Forest, it is one of the most gorgeous and unique properties we’ve ever stayed in.

From sunset pool sessions to balcony views overlooking Mt. Dajian and Big Bay, this fantastic forest retreat is a nice way to spend some time exploring Kenting National Park.

We stayed in a Deluxe Room (40 m²) which was spectacular – from the bath-tub looking out towards the ocean to the balcony where we spent both evenings watching the sun go down over Kenting or having coffee in the morning with a sea breeze.

GLORIA MANOR has undergone significant restoration and investment in recent years and it was once a holiday home for former President Chiang Kai-shek.

Most memorable luxury hotel in Taiwan

Capella Taipei

Opened in late 2025 and one of Taiwan’s newest luxury hotels, welcome to Capella, Taipei’s modern mansion.

Perfect for a special occasion, Taiwan honeymoon or luxurious break, we had a VERY relaxing time during our Capella Taipei stay and we could have easily not left the 5 star luxury hotel during our entire time there.

The hotel was designed by architect and interior designer André Fu who envisioned the space to have a more residential feel. Capella Taipei has already earned design acclaim and has been named ‘Best New Opening’ at the Wallpaper* Design Awards 2026.

Most unique hotel near Taipei Airport (Taoyuan)

COZZI Blu Taoyuan

A luxury Taoyuan hotel perfect for families and near to Taipei Taoyuan International Airport, a stay at COZZI Blu Taoyuan is the perfect way to start or end your Taiwan trip. In fact, it has so many cool features and nearby attractions, you could easily base yourself here for a longer trip.

Handily located next door to Taoyuan’s top attractions XPark Aquarium and the famous Gloria Outlets mall, COZZI Blu Taoyuan opened in 2020 with some cool ocean themed interiors.

One of the key draws here is all the fun features and daily kid’s activities which are ideal for families plus they run free regular shuttles to and from Taoyuan HSR station.

We stayed in a COZZI King room and there was lots of space to unpack in, a lovely lounge area overlooking a local lake plus a very comfortable bed.

Our room also had the biggest TV we’ve ever encountered of any Taiwan hotel room we’ve ever stayed in – one TV channel also showed a live feed from the big fishtank at XPark, so cool!

In keeping with all the family fun, there is a Cabin Zone on level 3 which has weekend storytelling sessions for kids, daily hands-on activities plus a mini aquarium feature.

A memorable Taipei hot springs hotel

Gaia Beitou

For a uniquely Taiwan experience, make sure your next Taipei trip involves a hotel with your own hot spring bath. One of the best hot spring resorts in Taiwan is Beitou in north Taipei.

Whilst popular with day-trippers, treat yourself to a stay at The Gaia, one of Beitou’s best known hot spring hotels (or just spend a day in their public hot springs in a gorgeous garden environment).

From funky features to workspaces and contemporary design like its Instagrammable (The) Library, the Gaia is ideal for a relaxing Taiwan vacation or work trip.

Whether you want to relax in the hot-spring, work out in the gym or just enjoy the restaurant, your time at The Gaia can be as relaxing as you want to make it.

Gaia Beitou Highlights:

• In-room hot spring – your own mini private hot spring bath in the room using local sulphur spring water!
• The Library – As you arrive, the striking centerpiece you’ll notice at The Gaia is ‘The Library’ which is their 4-storey tall book wall design centrepiece with a huge collection of books from around the world.
• The Gaia have some beautiful public hot springs set in a garden environment that hotel guests can use for free.
• A big buffet breakfast at their The Piacere with additional a la carte options plus complimentary sparkling wine.

Beitou is Taipei’s hot spring capital! Hop on the MRT from Taipei and in less than 20 minutes, you’ll arrive in Beitou, known for its lush greenery, thermal springs and public baths.

Hot spring bathing in this area dates back to the Japanese era, which is why the district is so full of character and incredible architecture – even the modern Beitou Library is one of the most idyllic spots in Taipei. All this is just a short walk from The Gaia, as are most Beitou attractions.

Hot spring hotel outside of Taipei

Orient Luxury Hotel – Jiaoxi

One of Taiwan’s best known hot-spring and spa towns, Jiaoxi 礁溪鄉 in Yilan County is an easy day trip from Taipei.

Better still, Jiaoxi has lots of affordable hotels with their own private hot-spring baths (and often has cheaper accommodation than other hot spring areas like Beitou).

There are lots of hot spring hotels in Jiaoxi but one of the best and most modern is Orient Luxury Hotel where some rooms have balconies with private hot springs overlooking the nearby forest – talk about an idyllic way to spend a few ‘steamy’ hours.

Orient Luxury Hotel Highlights

• Hot spring heaven – as well as a private balcony hot spring, the hotel has a huge heated swimming pool outside Jiaoxi using local sulphur spring water!
• Buffet breakfast – this is easily one of the best Taiwan buffet breakfasts we had – so much food plus freshly cooked choices too like Taiwanese pancakes made to order.
• Rooftop fun – they also have a foot hot pool and water slide on the rooftop (which is closed during winter sadly) plus their Toki Toki / Sky Bar.

Everything else in the room was great, with modern furnishings, a comfy bed, a decent sized television with Netflix and movie channels plus a contemporary bathroom.
