Taichung is Taiwan’s Bugcat Capoo capital with the new Taichung Station Foam Fat Cafe joining the already popular Bugcat Capoo House and other Bugcat Capoo Cafe already in the city.
One of the best things to do in Taichung, this has to be the most ‘purrfect’ railway station cafe in the whole of Taiwan.

Bugcat Capoo (貓貓蟲咖波) is one of the most popular Taiwan cartoon characters, a cute cross between a blue cat and a bug, created by Taiwan illustrator Yara (亞拉).
Bugcat Capoo has over 1.6 million followers on Instagram and celebrates its 10th anniversary this year in 2024.
From prices to Bugcat Capoo coffees, ink stamps to souvenirs, here is our guide to the new Bugcat Capoo Taichung Station Foam Cat Cafe 奶泡貓咖啡臺中驛店.

How to find the Foam Cat Cafe at Taichung Station
If you are arriving by local train / TRA Tze-Chiang from Taipei Main Station, the Old Taichung Station is literally just outside the main entrance / exit.
Go down the escalator by the Tourist Information / Visitor Center and the old station is on your left.

The Bugcat Capoo Station cafe 奶泡貓咖啡臺中驛店 is easy to spot as there is a giant Bugcat Capoo blue cat and Dog Dog model outside.
From Taichung HSR station, take bus 100, 158, 6682 or 6670H2 to Taichung Station – or a local train between the two stations.

Arriving at Taichung Station Bugcat Capoo Foam Cat Cafe
Once you’ve posed and taken selfies with the super-cool car statues outside the cafe (complete with train staff uniforms), enter the old station and into the Foam Cat Cafe – the historic station provides a grandeur setting.

The Bugcat Capoo Foam Cat Cafe at the station is divided into two sections – the cafe section on the right and the gift shop on the left.
Admission is free to browse the Bugcat Capoo gift shop – if you want to sit in the cafe, you must order at least one drink per person. Foam Cat Cafe drink price start from NT$80 per drink – more on this later.

Foam Cat Cafe at Taichung Station
As well as the gift-shop, you can enjoy Bugcat Capoo themed treats and drinks at the Foam Cat Cafe. Each cafe visitor must buy at least one drink if you intend to stay and sit down.

Drinks start from NT$80 (for a non-themed Americano coffee) and you can enjoy everything from Foam Cat pancakes to caramel pudding with Bugcat sitting on top.
There are around 12 tables inside the cafe and most chairs have a Foam Cat cushions – incidentally you buy your own cushion to take home from the gift-shop for NT$799

We opted for a cappuccino, Americano and Bugcat Capoo pancake – we were surprised that 3D foam latte art wasn’t part of the menu (especially as it is called Foam Cat Cafe).
Given the high ceiling and old station setting, this cafe felt a little sparse – the advantage of this Taichung Foam Cat Cafe over the one near Bugcat Capoo House is that this one is downtown and right next to the main station.

However, we actually preferred the other Foam Cat Cafe in Taichung (No. 11號, Lane 229, Minquan Road,) as the interior feels lighter, brighter and ultimately more welcoming.

Foam Cat Cafe menu prices
Drink prices and food costs were reasonable given the cuteness level – that said, the food theming could definitely be improved. They need to learn from the likes of Modern Toilet, Taiwan’s toilet themed restaurants in Taipei.

- Honeycomb soft ice-cream; NT$190
- Cappuccino and lattes – NT$130 per cup
