Bugcat Capoo (貓貓蟲咖波) is one of the most popular Taiwan cartoon characters, a cute cross between a blue cat and a bug, created by Taiwan illustrator Yara (亞拉). Bugcat Capoo has over 1.6 million followers on Instagram and celebrates its 10th anniversary this year in 2024.

Where is the Bugcat Capoo Taiwan Shop and Cafe?
Bugcat Capoo has two special shops in Taichung – the Bugcat Capoo House plus a brand new Bugcat Capoo Taichung Station shop that opened in April 2024.
The National Taiwan Museum of Comics in Taichung will also have a Bugcat Capoo exhibition and shop too in 2024.
There is also a Taiwan Bugcat Capoo cafe in Taichung as well called Foam Cat Cafe, which is located close to the Bugcat Capoo House. Taichung really is the Bugcat Capoo capital of Taiwan!
Incidentally there is also special themed Bugcat Capoo 7-Eleven in Taipei too – more on this later!

Bugcat Capoo House / Gift Shop
Taiwan’s biggest Bugcat Capoo gift store, Taichung’s Bugcat Capoo House is hidden away in an unassuming back-street. You’d probably wouldn’t even notice it if you weren’t looking for it, save for the cute Bugcat Capoo bus-stop outside.
Bugcat Capoo House is located in an old traditional Taiwan style building with wooden arches and tiles – it really is a charming set-up!
Once inside, Bugcat Capoo house is the perfect place for Bugcat Capoo collectors and connoisseurs. The store is packed with hundreds of collectible items from plushies to prints, moped helmets to magnets. Bugcat Capoo heaven!
Better still, there are some cute sets and scenes you can pose with.

Postcards and stamps
As we were travelling light around Taichung and Taiwan, we didn’t want to buy anything too big or cumbersome.
So we opted to buy a very cute Bugcat Capoo postcard exclusive to this shop, featuring an illustration of the Bugcat Capoo House – very meta!
Better still, upon paying for your postcard(s), you were free to use the special Bugcat Capoo stamps in store to stamp the back of your card.
Stamp trails and collecting stamps is very big in Taiwan so it is great to see you can also do this here.
If you want to send your postcards to friends or family, there is even a super-cute Bugcat Capoo postbox inside the store, with Capoo bursting out the top!

Bugcat Capoo Taichung bus-stop
Outside Taichung’s Bugcat Capoo House, there are a couple of photo-spots and Instagrammable scenes.
To the right of the main shop entrance, there is a Bugcat Capoo bus-stop featuring Capoo and Dogdog – alas it isn’t a real bus stop so no large turtle buses will be stopping here.
To the left of the main entrance, there is an elongated Bugcat Capoo – it looks like it would make an amazing bench but visitors are asked not to touch the figures.
From here, it is just a 4 minute walk to the fantastic Foam Cat Cafe (where there is even more Bugcat Capoo cuteness and merchandise).

Foam Cat Cafe (Bugcat Capoo Cafe in Taichung)
If you like Bugcat Capoo a ‘latte’, then make sure to see more of this six legged feline at the Foam Cat Cafe, one of Taichung’s most popular coffee shops renowned for its super cute cat latte 3D art.
Feline like a purrfect cup of coffee or themed tiramisu – maybe a moggy mochi?
Taiwan’s Bugcat Capoo Foam Cat Cafe in Taichung takes it to the next level with its theming – the dishes and drinks look so good you kind of don’t want to dig in.
We visited Foam Cat Cafe on a weekday afternoon and it was very busy – there was a small queue to wait for tables. Most of the seats and tables were indoors but there is also an outdoor terrace at the front.

Inside the Foam Cat Cafe
It isn’t just about cat themed food and drink – by the counter, there is a whole wall of super cute Bugcat Capoo merchandise like Foam Cat Cafe cups, pin badges, Foam Cat Cafe coasters plus postcards and gorgeous gifts galore.
Upstairs, there are also other stalls selling non Bugcat Capoo items in the Carter Island Gallery – lots of cute cartoon and comic characters from other up and coming Taiwanese creators and comic book artists.
We also thought the glitter balls hanging from the ceiling was a nice touch – here is hoping for a DogDog disco!
Similar to the Bugcat Capoo House bus stop, if you go to the rear of the Foam Cat Cafe, you’ll see a BIG Bugcat Capoo and DogDog waving at you from the balcony!

Did you know there is also a Bugcat Capoo themed 7-Eleven in Taipei?
There are over 100 themed 7-Elevens in Taipei as of 2024, featuring such characters as Snoopy / Peanuts, Mofusand, Sumiko Gurashi and Hello Kitty. They even recently opened a 7-Eleven Ultraman themed store (which we visited and wrote about here).
One of the best themed 7-Elevens in Taiwan has to be the Bugcat Capoo 7-Eleven on Songgan Road in Taipei’s Xinyi district.

We sat down for cat-puccino here recently (yes, even the coffee cups are Capoo branded) and to admire the incredible theming and DogDog decorations.
There are big Bugcat figures to pose with plus mounds of merchandise – even the toilet and cafe tables and chairs feature the bright blue cat bug.
