Visiting Taiwan in October 2025? You are in for a treat as there are lots of Taiwan festivals in October 2025, from the Taichung Jazz Festival to the Taipei Pride / Color Taipei parade.
National Day in Taiwan is 10 October which sees celebrations including the 2025 Taiwan National Day Taipei 101 fireworks – plus new for 2025, a Taipei 101 drone show along with the fireworks.

If you are visiting Taiwan with kids in October, there are lots of family friendly events and exhibitions in Taiwan from Doraemon and Tomica at Taipei Huashan 1914 Creative Park to the immersive experience that TeamLabs Future Park in Kaohsiung.
October in Taiwan also sees National Day on October 10, plus the Taipei Art Fair arrives in the city.

Taiwan Public Holidays in October 2025
There are two Taiwan public holidays in October 2025.
10 October 2025 – Taiwan National Day / Double Ten Day – more on this shortly including a parade in Taipei, plus National Day Taipei 101 fireworks and drone show.
25 October 2025 – Retrocession Day and Memorial of the Victory of Guningtou, Kinmen

Taiwan National Day 2025
10 October 2025
Also known as Double Ten Day or Double Tenth Day 國慶日 / 雙十節, Taiwan National Day falls every 10 October.
It marks the 1911 Wuchang Uprising in China, which began the Xinhai Revolution that led to the abolition of the Qing Dynasty and establishment of the ROC in 1912 and the end of Imperial rule.
It is a public holiday in Taiwan although most shops and restaurants stay open (maybe some smaller stalls and shops close).
We were in Taiwan for the 2024 National Day and we watched part of the Presidential parade in Taipei – the streets were fairly quiet apart from those directly on the Parade Route.
To be honest, the parade is quite ceremonial and not that interesting – you can’t see much unless you get a prime spot near the Presidential Office Building.
At 10pm on National Day, Taipei 101 has a short but fun firework display – new for Taiwan National Day 2025, there is a drone show and ‘smoke display’ (no, we are not sure either)!
Please note the Taipei 101 National day 2025 fireworks are not on the scale of the Taipei New Year’s Eve fireworks (they last a few minutes and are smaller in size). The display takes place at 10pm.
Please note the best viewing spots to see the 2025 National Day drone show in Taipei is Taipei Civic Plaza (map).
We watched the 2024 National Day fireworks (with beers) from Xinyi’s Rainbow crossing near Taipei Civic Plaza and it was a great view.
For 2025 National Day, the national fireworks display will be held along the Maoluo River in Nantou County.

Taipei Pride / Color Taipei 2025
25 October 2025 (plus LGBTQ+ events all October)
Taipei Pride is an annual event in Taiwan, attended by thousands of the LGBTQ+ community from all over the world. Taiwan is a very progressive country (another of many reasons to love Taiwan) and the streets become awash with color and celebrations.
In 2019 Taiwan became the first country in Asia to legalise same-sex marriage earlier that year.
The main Taipei Color / Taiwan Pride 2025 event takes place on Saturday 25 October 2025 with a Pride parade that starts and finishes at Taipei City Hall. The party then continues in Ximending with lots of LGBTQ+ bars by Red House like Locker Room or Taboo in Zhongshan.
If you’re attending the 2025 Taipei Pride next month (25 October) or want to know more about LGBTQ+ activities and sites, you can also take a ride on the Rainbow Sightseeing Bus.
The 2025 Taipei Color / Pride bus runs every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 3 to 26 October 2025 and features onboard entertainment followed by a drag show and drinks.
There are two themed routes – Drag Bus and Party Express.

Taichung Jazz Festival 2025
17 to 26 October 2025
Taiwan’s biggest jazz festival returns to Taichung in October 2025 – we were in Taichung for last year’s jazz festival and saw a huge crowd gathering in Taichung Civic Square for an afternoon of free jazz and musical performances.
The Taichung Jazz Festival 2025 takes place over multiple venues and districts with some free performances and some paid for.
Musicians and groups lined up so far for 2025 include Nick Javier Group, The Sultans of Swing, New Orleans & Taiwan Jazz All-Star, Dimensión Vocal and the Yotam Ben-Or Quartet.

Taichung Spring Wave Music Festival 20th Edition
31 October to 2 November 2025
Taiwan’s gorgeous glamping festival hits Taichung for a long weekend of wonderful fun and live music. It is family friendly with lots of activities and different theme zones.
There are over 50 different bands and musicians performing from countries all over the world plus a gourmet line up of local food stalls.
At the time of writing, a few details are still to be confirmed but some of the bands lined up for the Taichung Spring Wave Music Festival 2025 include Sugizo, Awich, Spyair, The Crane, Asterism, Cotoba and Sodagreen.

2025 Taipei International Beef Noodle Festival
1 to 31 October 2025
One of Taiwan’s most famous dishes, there are many fine beef noodle soup shops in Taiwan and Taipei like Liu Shandong Beef Noodles 劉山東牛肉麵.
Taking place at Taipei Flora Expo Park, there is a real battle of the beef noodles with chefs from all over Taiwan cooking up a storm.
There are two main categories – the fresh-cooked and ready-to-eat beef noodles. Visitors can also sample lots of beef noodles and buy merchandise at the beef noodle market (yes, this is a thing)!

2025 Art Taipei Fair
24 to 27 October 2025
Held at the Taipei World Trade Center in late October, the 2025 2025 Art Taipei Fair will host over 120 galleries from 6 countries including over 70 from Taiwan.
There are 8 themed zones to explore and view artwork at the Taipei World Trade center plus pop-up art events will be happening all over the city.

Doraemon and Friends at at Taipei Huashan 1914 Creative Park
28 June 2025 to 6 October 2025
Taipei is going Doraemon crazy this September, with a brand new Doraemon and Friends exhibition featuring over 100 different 3D Doraemons and loads of super-cool selfies spots.
There are lots of interactive exhibits to enjoy at Huashan 1914 including the mirrorised “Infinite Doraemon World” and “Nobita’s Interactive Comic Reading Room”.
As well as a touring exhibition, there will be lots of Doraemon Taiwan exclusive short animations (including the robotic cartoon cat at Taipei Main Station) and Doraemon merchandise only available at the exhibition.

2025 Taiwan Baseball Season
Until October 2025
Taiwan baseball is a ‘big-hitter’ and one of the country’s most popular sports.
A fun night out, make a home-run to a Taiwan baseball game – the 2025 Taiwan baseball season is currently in its second half and runs until October 2025.
Taiwan baseball is suitable for all ages and it is easy to buy baseball tickets online or in person at the baseball stadiums or using the Taiwan convenience store ticket machines in 7-Eleven and FamilyMart – many games are played at the new Taipei Dome in Xinyi.
Enjoy the evening action on and off the field as the stands often erupt into cheers with entertainment and dancing also quite common.
At the time of writing (August 2025) and given the play offs, the only confirmed play dates for October so far are 4 and 5 October 2025 but this will increase once the schedule is known.

Taiwan teamlabs ‘Future Park’ at National Science and Technology Museum, Kaohsiung

The digital art museum teamLab is one of Tokyo’s most famous immersive experiences and it is now on tour in Taiwan.

Taipei Night Market Festival
Until 1 November 2025
We love Taipei’s night markets and this foodie festival is just another excuse to go. Across various night markets in October 2025, there will be extra activities and stalls celebrating the best of Taiwan cuisine and the heritage of traditional Taiwanese street food.
A vote will also be held to find out local residents’ favourite foods and stalls – given how good all the food is, it surely will be a difficult decision!

Ro Wonderlands / Ragnarok Monsters at Navy Destroyer Museum, Tainan
Now until 31 December 2025
Following on from the epic success of the Transformers style, a new year long family-fun exhibition has opened at the Navy Destroyer Museum in Anping Harbour in Tainan, Taiwan’s only warship museum.
Until 31 December 2025, you can catch these super-cute and colorful Ro Wonderlands characters onboard the ROCS Te Yang vessel (formerly the USS Sarsfield) which was built in 1945 and decommissioned in 2005. It has been docked in Anping Harbor since 2009.
Admission costs just NT$100 for adults, children under 6 go free.

French exhibition from the Metropolitan Museum of Art
Until 12 October 2025 – National Palace Museum in Taipei City
New York’s famous Metropolitan Museum of Art (The Met) is hosting an exhibition at the National Palace Museum in Taipei until 12 October 2025, showcasing French Impressionism and Early Modernism paintings from The Met’s Robert Lehman Collection.
This is the first ever occasion when The Met has exhibited part of its collection in Taiwan – it will consist of over 80 paintings and almost 40 sketches including works by Renoir, Gauguin and Matisse.
