For a homely and luxury hotel with Taipei 101 views, time to stay at the W Taipei Hotel in the Xinyi neighbourhood.
One of the best luxury hotels in Taiwan, we recently had a wonderful stay at W Taipei, enjoying epic views, epicurean experiences and one of the best night’s sleeps we have ever had.

Popular with business travellers, Taiwan tourists and younger couples, the 5* W Taipei is in the heart of Taipei’s Xinyi district, close to malls, restaurants, bars and more – but given all the facilities like a rooftop pool, gym and spa plus incredible onsite restaurants, maybe you won’t want to leave?
Here is our review of W Taipei hotel plus our photos. We stayed and were hosted by W Taipei in March 2026.

Why stay at the W Taipei?
From rooms with Taipei 101 views to world-class restaurants, the W Taipei is a modern Xinyi hotel popular with Western travellers.
From funky features to workspaces and contemporary design, this is ideal for a Taiwan vacation or work trip – plus it is part of Marriott International so you can earn / use Marriott Bonvoy points.

One of the most luxurious hotels in Taiwan we’ve ever stayed in (and in fact anywhere in the world), this is the best way to start your time in Taipei.
For us, we really liked W Taipei for its in-room features and attention to detail, from the bath-tub looking out over the city to the most plug points we’ve ever had (plus two TVs and a cute snug) – there is so much to enjoy here.

Whether you want to relax in the spa, work out in the gym or just relax at the pool, your time at W Taipei can be as relaxing as you want to make it.

W Taipei Neighborhood
Located in Xinyi, Taipei’s financial district and business hub, W Taipei is on the doorstep of so many things to do, plus Xinyi has the highest number of Taipei malls together in one neighborhood.
In fact, there are several malls all within a few footsteps of the hotel including the newly refurbished Taipei Dream Plaza, the Breeze and the underrated Uni-ustyle mall.

Xinyi in Taipei is also blessed with multiple ways to see Taipei from up high, from Taipei 101 and its Simple Kaffa Sola coffee shop, to rooftop bars and terraces. Or just stay in and enjoy incredible views of Xinyi from your room or the Yen bar on the upper floors of W Taipei (it has 31 floors in total).
Xinyi is a perfect place in Taipei to stay for:
- Shopping heaven and many mega malls
- Major attractions like Taipei 101
- A nice mix of old Taipei and modern Taiwan
- Family trips and Taipei kids attractions

Our W Taipei Room
Your luxury Taipei experience begins as soon as you arrive – we were greeted warmly by staff on the ground floor welcome area before checking in on the 10th floor (which is also where Woo Bar, the pool, gift shop and Seasons by olivier e restaurant is located).

All of our luggage was taken upstairs by the concierge to our 17th floor room, a W Taipei ‘Fantastic Suite’.
As soon as we opened the door, we knew we were in for a treat as our accommodation had a lovely lounge overlooking Xinyi and most importantly, a clear and direct view of Taipei 101 – the room is 70sqm /753sqft and the largest room we’ve ever stayed at in Taipei.

In fact, one of the most common questions in our Taiwan Travel Tips (TTT) Facebook group is which hotels have a view of Taipei 101 – and W Taipei certainly delivers on this.
It is certainly our best ever hotel room with a Taipei 101 view and we spent hours watching the cityscape from the lounge, bathroom and snug in our room.

When we walked in, we noticed the awesome afternoon tea set left on our lounge table, in the shape of Taipei 101 which had sweet treats like pineapple cakes in the shape of Taiwan, mung bean cake, marinated cherry tomatoes plus local Taiwanese oolong tea.

We spent many hours in the lounge area enjoying the Taipei 101 view, with our complimentary Taiwanese tea and Nespresso coffee pods (provided in the room) – the bar was also well stocked with lots of snacks, wine, soft drinks and beer (paid for).

Fantastic Suite W Taipei – features and interior
As well as the views and modern furnishings, we can genuinely say the highlight of our Fantastic Suite at W Taipei was the bed and bedding – it is one of the comfiest beds we’ve ever slept in and it was almost like relaxing in a cloud. We learned later this mattress type and bedding was unique to W Hotels!

This was also the perfect place to watch TV in bed, as in addition to the main screen in the lounge, there was also a second wall-mounted TV screen in the bedroom. Bose speakers came as standard too, mounted on the walls.

Next to the bed was a little snug which was the perfect place to watch the world go by, or just get some peace reading a book – a very neat design feature.

The bathroom is also rather unique with a large bathtub looking out towards Taipei 101 – the bathroom has privacy screens and shaded windows. The shower is in a separate cubicle, plus the Japanese style toilet and bidet is located in another small room complete with a second sink.

As you’d expect from a luxury Taipei hotel, Wi-Fi speed was good but we also loved how many plug points there were – many hotels seemingly overlook this minor detail but our W Taipei room has loads.

Another minor but marvellous detail was the water bottles – we had 8 water bottles spread across the room meaning we didn’t go short. Plus we appreciated that one of the cleaners tidying up our loose charging cables with W Taipei branded cable ties – a nice touch!

We also appreciated the turndown service at night whereby our beds were turned down and we were left snacks and fresh ice – so cool (literally).
Facilities at W Taipei
One of the best features of W Taipei is the outdoor pool on level 10, complete with sun loungers and the poolside WET bar (which was sadly closed for a refurbishment when we visited).

Other facilities include a very well equipped gym plus the onsite spa, AWAY SPA 紓壓艙 – we used neither of these but can confirm both looked immaculate and modern (and smelt amazing)!

As we write lots of Taiwanderers.com articles and hotel reviews like this while in Taiwan, we really appreciated the open plan office space and co-working area to catch up on our writing.

We’ll come on W Taipei’s restaurants and breakfast shortly but also to mention there are three signature bars at W Taipei:
WOOBAR: Located on the 10th floor, this is the good-looking lobby bar known for cocktails and DJ sets that were always bustling in the evening.

YEN Bar: High up the 31st floor next to the sublime YEN restaurant, this is one of the best bars in Taipei with an actual view of Taipei 101. The bar is open from 5pm onwards for cool cocktails (so many whiskeys too), making this is a great place to spend in Taipei at night.

WET BAR – the poolside bar serving cocktails with a splash.

W Taipei restaurants and breakfast
Where to start with our W Taipei dining experience? We ate so well, from the buffet breakfast to the best roasted duck of our lives at YEN Chinese restaurant.
Breakfast
Overlooking the pool, breakfast at W Taipei is served on the 10th floor in the Seasons by olivier e restaurant (from 6.30am until 10am on weekdays and until 10.30am on weekends).

There are several serving stations including an egg station, fresh smoothie area plus western style hot items like sausages and bacon, plus a salad bar, cereal bar and continental cold meats and cheeses – local dishes include scallion pancakes, congee and oodles of noodles dishes.

We liked the fresh honeycomb on a Taipei 101 shaped rack plus at the front of the restaurant, there is a small area for gluten-free breakfast items.

YEN Chinese Restaurant
Open for lunch and dinner, we can honestly say our lunch-time meal at YEN Chinese restaurant was one of our best ever Taipei dining experiences.

We ate so well and it all tasted so good, especially the duck – the chef brings the freshly roasted YEN roast duck to your table and prepares duck inside scallion pancakes. In a word, it was sensational!

We also tried dishes like steamed dumplings, fried turnip shreds with cheese, pan-fried mullet roe crisp rolls, poached luffa with salted egg and wok fried beef tenderloin – it was all so good and we finished up with custard buns with egg yolk. The staff were lovely and attentive too, constantly topping up our tea. A very lovely lunch-time experience.

Seasons by olivier e.
On our first night at W Taipei, we enjoyed several sumptuous small dishes, where fine French cooking is served with a Taiwanese twist.

We tried starters like chicken truffle toast (so good), beef tartare and tuna served with garlic plus fresh French style baguettes served with various spreads including seafood butter.

The star dish for us was their fusion of dumplings with classic European flavors like lobster bisque dumplings served with battarga (cod roe) or beef bourguignon dumplings smothered in onion, caramel and crispy baguette bits – divine!

W Taipei Summary
A luxury hotel in Xinyi with beautiful surroundings, W Taipei is a truly top Taiwan stay, from the exquisite dining and bar options to the amazing views of Taipei 101 from our room or YEN Bar.

Our room and bed were so comfy with epic cityscape views we didn’t want to leave at all – but with so much on your doorstep including many malls and attractions, the W Taipei has to be one of the best located hotels in Taipei.
From the attention to details and small design features to the most juicy duck dish we’ve ever had in Taiwan, there are many wonderful reasons to pick W Taipei for your next Taiwan stay.
