What is POYA?

POYA (寶雅) is the No.1  beauty brand retailer in Taiwan – and yet it sells so much more, from alcoholic drinks to clothing and footwear.

Easy to spot because of its bright pink exterior and signage, POYA has been around since 1985 and now also ventured into dedicated home and hardware stores called POYA HOME / 寶家.

POYA (寶雅), Taiwan

A great place for discount prices and daily shopping, POYA is popular with local Taiwanese bargain beauty hunters but it should be on your shopping list too for your next Taiwan trip.

We often go to POYA for beauty products and toiletries, but you can also pick up thousands of other cheap items – like for instance when we needed a swimming cap for the hot springs in Jiaoxi, we found one for just NT$60 at POYA Jiaoxi.

If you know Daiso or Don Don Donki / Don Quijote in Japan (both of which also have stores across Taiwan) or Olive Young in South Korea, POYA is a similar retail concept to these.

The current POYA strapline / marketing motto is ‘Make Life Amazing’ – amen to that!

How big is POYA in Taiwan?

POYA has grown relatively big since its first store opened just over 40 years ago – it celebrated its 100th store in 2014. As of 2026, there are now over 470 POYA 寶雅 stores in Taiwan.

This compares to around 600 Cosmed 康是美 stores and 590 Watsons stores, their main competitors in the Taiwan beauty market.

In 2025, they had record sales of over NT$25 billion, up 7% from the previous year – now that is a lot of beauty products sold!

Why do people love POYA so much?

In short, POYA is big on choice and low on prices. It has stores big and small in all big cities and most towns, plus it is almost like a supermarket where everything can be bought in one trip.

It usually offers a much wider selection of beauty and skincare products than similar Taiwan beauty stores and pharmacy chains like Watsons, Cosmed and Great Tree Pharmacy.

POYA (寶雅), Taiwan

Even though it is a Taiwanese store through and through, people also like POYA as it has a wide range of international products including K-Beauty products and Japanese skincare items – we also noticed loads of international alcohol too like Korean soju and Japanese sake – cheers!

We believe there is also a popular POYA loyalty scheme too but we haven’t personally used it – but sign up if you want even more discounts and special offers!

PS After POYA, we think Taiwan Cosmed is pretty good too – it has a similar wide range.

What can you buy at POYA?

Given their store range and size, it is often more a case of what CAN’T you buy there.

Like Carrefour, the large POYA have several floors each with different categories like cosmetics, food and drink, cleaning products, haircare and more.

The main POYA categories are:

Taiwan Skincare and international cosmetic brands

Taiwanese brands like Heme, Dr Wu, and Naruko, plus moisturisers, lotions and potions from brands such as Senko, Nivea, BIORE, Neutrogena and CLIO.

We should also mention POYA is one of the BEST places in Taiwan to buy face masks / sheet masks with prices starting from NT$35 per sheet mask.
