One of the best Taipei cherry blossom spots has to be Lohas Park in Taipei’s Neihu District – each year, there is a Lohas Cherry Blossom Festival and we were lucky enough to visit this year’s best known Taipei cherry blossom festival in January 2025.

How to get to Lohas Park Cherry Blossom in Taipei
Located in Taipei’s Neihu District, the best way to get to Lohas Park is to take the brown Wenhu MRT Line to Donghu Station.
This line is kind of like a monorail (it is above ground). Take exit 3 from Donghu Station and Lohas Park is a 750 metre / 15 minute flat walk.

The Wenhu MRT Line also has a Taipei Zoo / Maokong Gondola stop so could easily be combined with Lohas Park for a great Taipei day trip (the two are a 50 minute ride apart though).
When we visited the Lohas Park Cherry Blossom festival in Taipei earlier this year, there was lots of directional signage in the station plus a map – but there was no signage outside the station, we’d recommend taking a photo of the map or using your phone.
There are also toilet and locker facilities at Donghu Station.

Visiting Lohas Cherry Blossom in Taipei
One of the most famous and best Taipei cherry blossom festivals, Lohas Park becomes a sea of white and pink cherry blossoms across late winter and early spring.

Cherry blossoms usually bloom from February onwards, although Taiwan cherry blossom blooms often begin from mid to late January.
We visited the Lohas Park Cherry blossom the day after Lunar New Year (30 January 2025) and we were greeted by hundreds of locals and visitors taking photos beneath the blossoms.

Lohas Park is very small and also unspectacular for the remainder of the year but it comes alive in the spring with all the natural colors.

As well as all the cherry blossom trees, there is a nice floral display at the front with a big ‘2025’ that proves to be a popular photo spot.
Lots of spectators were dressed in pink clothes and pink hats to match the blossoms. We also loved all the dogs that were being brought to the park to be photographed in their cherry blossom coordinated outfits or their red Lunar New Year dog costumes – too cute!

What to expect at the Lohas Cherry Blossom Festival Taipei
The park wouldn’t usually take more than five or so minutes to walk around but given the crowds the cherry blossom attracts, allow at least an hour to explore.
This Taipei cherry blossom trail runs all the way along the back perimeter of the park – plus there is an additional section running along the ‘East Lake’, a small waterway and canal system that runs into the larger Keelung river nearby.

As well as the display at the front of the park, there are several pop up displays and for the 2025 cherry blossom festival, they are Disney themed featuring Disney Princesses such as Jasmine from Aladdin and Rapunzel from Tangled.
On certain days and weekends, there are live performances and music in Lohas Park – the full 2025 Lohas Cherry Blossom schedule can be found on their official Facebook page here >

The park is big enough for picnics and we spotted several couples having nibbles, drinks and even doing impromptu pet photo-shoots below the cherry blossom trees (and not just dogs – we saw cats and rabbits in cherry blossom photography too).

Other things to know about Lohas Park / Cherry Blossom Festival
- There are no permanent toilets in the park – there are several portaloos for the festival only but the queues were BIG. Best to use the toilet in the Donghu Station first if you are arriving by Taipei MRT.
- There were no food stalls when we visited but lots of convenience stores, restaurants and fast-food chains nearby like Mos Burger, KFC and Dominos.
- The best time to see Taipei cherry blossoms in Lohas Park is likely early to mid February – when we visited in late January, the blooms were about half way out.

Other Taiwan Cherry Blossom Hotspots
February to April
Although some Taiwan cherry blossoms should begin in late January, the best time of the year to see Taiwan cherry blossom ‘spring’ into life is mid February to mid March (although the unpredictable nature of Taiwan’s weather means this is never guaranteed).
From Taipei to Taichung, Yilan to Yangmingshan National Park, Taiwan is a top spot for cherry blossom chasing and sakura spotting.

If you are in downtown Taipei in February, one of the best blossom spots we’ve always found is the park by Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall.
Expect lots of blossom photographers with tripods, selfie sticks and dogs in prams and pink outfits. This is plum blossom but hey, blossom is blossom unless you want to be pedantic.
Other Taiwan cherry blossom spots include Beitou, Sun Moon Lake, Kaohsiung and Alishan.
